There will be a public hearing on Monday, Nov. 14th, 2016.
The Dharma Realm Buddhist Association (DRBA) is building a new campus (IIPE) on the east side of the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas (CTTB). Recent wetland survey showed that the wetlands have expanded so we are moving a portion of the project north to avoid building on the wetlands. The County’s Planning Commission has approved the move but a neighbor appealed the decision. So there will be a public hearing before the Board of Supervisors, during which DRBA will seek the Board of Supervisors to affirm the Planning Commission’s decision.
Why have the wetlands expanded? Many trees were lost during a fire several years ago. Fire fighting activities (bulldozing across existing ditches) and major tree loss are possible causes. According to a recent hydrology report, obstruction of culvert and accumulation of sediment in earthen ditches contributed to the expansion.
